Our paper on the impact of APOE germline variants on tumor immunity is out in Nature Medicine
We are very excited that our paper on the role of germline variants in the APOE gene is out in Nature Medicine today! 🎉🥳
It remains poorly understood why some patients mount effective anti-tumor immune responses that can be re-invigorated with immunotherapy while others don’t. Our work provides evidence that variants in the genes we are born with (the germline genetic make-up) modulate anti-tumor immunity. In this paper, we show that highly common variants of APOE, present in ~40% of the general population and known as the biggest risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease, significantly modulate anti-tumor immunity in melanoma. Huge thank you to everyone involved!
